Do you have problems with sleep ? Can’t fall asleep, can’t stay asleep or wake up too early ?
Your menstrual cycle can effect your sleep. Some people have problems sleeping during the second phase of their cycle (luteal phase). Poor sleep is often a part of the Premenstrual Syndrome (PMS).
Did you know that estrogen and Progesterone can increase the need for sleep?
Hormones such as estrogen and progesterone can effect a sleep. This occurs across all reproductive years – from puberty, pregnancy, breastfeeding and the menopausal years.
Our health not only relies on good food and exercise but also sleep.
If you are not sleeping well, please check in with your GP; ask for help.
Dr Andreadis will ask you about your sleep should you see her. She will explain how your hormones can lead to sleep disturbance and what can be done to help you. Certain lifestyle changes, foods, supplements and exercise may be effective.
You may also benefit from referral to a local sleep clinic.
