Premature Menopause

Natural menopause usually occurs at an average age of 51. For some this occurs earlier for a variety of reasons

This reasons may be caused by:

• Chemotherapy/radiotherapy or surgery
• Infection
• Autoimmune conditions
• Genetic conditions
• Or many times it is unexplained.

A diagnosis of premature menopause (last period before the age of 40yrs) can be a very difficult time both physically and emotionally.

People who go through this need special care to minimise their chances of developing conditions related to chronically low oestrogen such as bone loss, cardiovascular disease and infertility.
